The Krikor Markarian antique rug and carpet gallery, based in New York City in the heart of the wholesale rug district, specializes in very fine collectible antique tribal rugs and other woven artefacts from the main Near Eastern and Asian weaving areas.
Our Comprehensive Stock
We usually have several fine 19th century Caucasian rugs and soumacs from the Kazak, Gendje, Karabagh, Shirvan and Kuba weaving areas. The gallery also deals in good examples of antique Anatolian rugs and kilims woven in villages in the Konya and Bergama regions, amongst others. We can offer designers and architects a selection of room size antique Persian carpets - Heriz, Bakshaish, Mahal, Senna, Tabriz, Sultanabad, Ziegler-manufactured, plus a good choice of Indian carpets - Agra and Amritsar - and Turkish carpets - Borlou and Oushak.
Additionally, we stock interesting 19th century Persian tribal and village rugs and utility bags. Lastly, the gallery is also able to offer collectors a number of antique Central Asian weavings such as suzanis, animal trappings and small rugs from the Turkmen and Baluch tribes.
